🎶 One Summer’s Day – One of Joe Hisaishi’s most iconic compositions, featured in the breathtaking Studio Ghibli film Spirited Away. This delicate and emotional theme is one of the most recognizable pieces from Studio Ghibli, beautifully capturing the film’s bittersweet journey.

Hisaishi’s composition starts with a soft and reflective melody, gradually building into a sweeping, cinematic piece that embodies Chihiro’s transformation and growth. The piano brings out its full emotional depth, making it a favorite among Ghibli fans.

In my arrangement I followed the original‘s structure closely but adapted the piano part so that it is rich in overtones and imitates the orchestra as well as possible. For instance, the melody in the beginning is arranged as 4 voice chords instead of single notes and the left hand accompanies with quartal chords. I also changed the opening chords a bit to my liking, but of course the arrangement can also be played with Hisaishi‘s original chords.
