The Spirit of the Samurai released on the Atari VCS on February 20th 2026. It had previously been released on all major platforms in 2024, and because the VCS missed out at that time, we thought that we wouldn't see our version of the game, despite it being announced sometime ago.
But we did, and during a long lull in the more substantial releases of the console. Many think the VCS is in its dying throws, and this just might be the last "big" title we get. The Spirit of the Samurai has a gorgeous, 3-D stop motion graphical style that hasn't been seen much recently, and it looks very unique for its style.
But all that aside, lets see if the game is worth picking up or not!

3 out of 5 is Good. While flawed, there are still things to enjoy

1 out of 5 is AWFUL! Do not play these games!
