Los Angeles-based eclectic rock alchemists SPIRIT IN THE ROOM are pleased to unveil their new video for “Creepy Phone Calls.” The track comes by way of the outfit’s Passengers EP, out NOW on Housecore Records!
The vision of Louisiana-born and Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Dennis R. Sanders, SPIRIT IN THE ROOM unfurls through cigarette smoke, cheap booze, and distortion like an anachronistic fever dream soundtracked by a collision of gothic vocal hues, immersive alternative architecture, and jarring metallic catharsis. It’s scary at times. It’s sad at other times. If you ever wondered what goes on in the head of a film noir hitman, horror novel asylum inmate, or a golden age silver screen villain, it might sound something like SPIRIT IN THE ROOM.
Comments Sanders, “‘Creepy Phone Calls’ has been one of my favorites for a minute. I was reading a good bit of Lovecraft when I wrote this one so I’m sure a lot of the characters found their way into the lyrics. Maybe there’s a reference to living with a ghost and some unsettling memories here and there as well. This is a very bass driven EP. I tend to write a lot on the bass and drums for the most part. Then I decorate with guitar and vocals and some synth pieces here and there. I will say that if you’re thinking that this is the sound of the band and you have an idea of where it’s heading, you might be sadly mistaken. Stay tuned!”
