Formed in 2008 by former Cold Embrace frontman Andreas Libera Spirit Descent quickly emerged to become one of the premier Doom Metal bands in the north of Germany.
During „A New Doom Is Rising" (online demo release late 2008/early 2009), Libera was joined by singer Jan Eichelbaum (former Deceptive Silence) and the project Spirit Descent turned into a band.
Their debut „Doominion" was recorded later that year and released in early 2010, the first edition as a self-released limited „black edition", in September 2010 the underground doom label „Eyes Like Snow" became aware of the band and decided to re-release „Doominion" as a regular output.
The reception of this album by the audience and press was mainly very positive.
During the following year a live-lineup was brought together and Spirit Descent played a few gigs (supporting Blood Ceremony amongst others).
Considering „Doominion" to be a good first statement, the following album „VII Chapters In A Minor" (released via Psychedoomelic February 2012) continued on the chosen „Path Of Doom", but also introduced a more progressive approach and the tendency to write even longer epic songs than on „Doominion". „Not your standard doom act" is a typical reaction whenever it comes to label Spirit Descent with a term.
During 2012 and 2013 a lot of gigs were played, highlighted by a support gig for mighty Saint Vitus and an appearance at the very last „Doom Shall Rise" (April 2013).
2014 ----- The "ANTHEM" is rising -----
A heavy, but spherical concept-album about one of the oldest written myths in mankind's history.
AND we'll be re-entering the stages....
