Every now and then, a bad developer gets a good stroke of genius, and does something not for themselves, but for their community instead. For nearly two years, every promotion on Spiral Knights has been in some way tied to buying energy, and if it wasn't, rewards were staggeringly limited, such as the Anniversary.
This Halloween, Three Rings released an entire line of reskins of proto, new proto, and more popular armor lines, plus ugly accessories. It's obviously very lazy in design, but it's still one of the few steps in the right direction Spiral Knights has taken since the Explorer Packs last Christmas, and making Closed Beta invite only.
The Box Opening Party was something Dancinjen threw together, and ultimately was pretty fun. It was something people could work towards, instead of just buying with real money, so the turnout was great and a few people had 100+ boxes and at the time of this writing, half an hour later, are still opening boxes. (Tuhui had 355.)
