FWRI lobster researchers put cameras on traps to better understand the behavior of lobsters in traps and to measure how often they escaped, died or made it to harvest. Ultimately, the video analysis will provide information useful for management of the trap fishery. Researchers have measured that less than 2% of the tagged lobsters escape each day, sometimes with the help of other animals!
