Miles Morales's guidance counselor has a plan to get Miles into Princeton: lean into cheap advantages on his application, like stretching the truth about his background and family. In one of those moments that defines who a character really is, Miles rejects these ploys to simply be himself rather than a caricatured version that might bring some benefits. For Miles, what he'd lose by doing that is much more serious than anything he'd gain.
