Have you ever wondered why so many of Spider-mans Villains are based on Animals?
In today's video, we take a look at why this is and how it came about.
Was it just Stan Lee and Steve Ditko throwing out Random ideas and seeing what stuck or was there more to it?
In the early 2000's an Amazing Spiderman Story Arc was put forward that introduced the concept of Totems.
in Spiderman Lore Totems are a Bridge between Man and Beast and are created by God like Entities - In Peter Parker's case a Spider.
This changed the scope of the comics and gave a more Mystical Mythology to why so many animalistic characters appear within the Universe.
And it kind of makes alot of sense...
Thor is a God who fights other gods (Most notably his brother Loki)
and the Xmen are Mutants who combat other Mutants (Magneto)
So it makes alot of sense that Peter Parker Spiderman (as a totem) fights other Animalistic Totems.
What do you guys think. Did you like this Spiderman story arc from marvel or do you prefer the scientific route with the Radioactive Spider?
I personally am not a fan of the Totem idea, despite how cool it sounds on paper. But am I alone in this?
