"A lot of research work in understanding and improving the detectors within gravitational community (LISA Consortium, LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA Collaboration, Einstein Telescope project and beyond) is focused on characterizing the signal and noise sources, as well as on designing control systems seeking to minimize the noise contribution. Different software tools were historically used for these purposes. Some of these tools are proprietary and/or are accessible only for the members of respective collaborations, which hinders potential exchange of ideas and solutions. We believe that it is possible to create a single open-source software tool that can be of general use for many different applications in these domains. This would facilitate exchange of knowledge between researchers, and could be used in teaching.

We are developing a python package ""SpicyPy"", providing functionality for control systems modelling, signal processing, and interaction between the two. It relies on other well-known and tested open-source packages already used for these applications, but it extends their functionality and abstracts interactions with them with a unified, simple but powerful interface.

Potential applications include time series analysis, designing control systems with feedback, passing sensor signals through a control system, and more. The project is a collaborative open-source effort across the research groups from the start, and new contributors are always welcome. The development is currently in its early stages, which means that early contributors will have a large influence on project's direction."
