There has been 5 sperm whale sightings in the area within the last week. These are just a couple video clips from 1 of the encounters in which we saw 3 in total. Sperm whales are a very rare sight off California and it's not entirely known where they migrate to. Sperm whales are the third deepest diving marine mammals after the Curvier's beaked whale and elephant seal. The water depth here was around 2,000 ft. but they can dive well beyond that.
