Hello! In this video I will show you how to make an autumn landscape out of this summer picture using color gradient matching function in 3D LUT Creator. I will use this image as a reference.
First, I need to add colors from the reference and my image to the palette. Colors should be added from areas with different brightness levels. I’m finished with the reference, let's move on to my image. I will sort color samples by luminance. I don't see any wrong shades here, so I can go to match the color gradient. The original image looks fine to me in terms of luminance. Variability can be reduced. I will also set saturation slider to zero. Here's what I get! Here is before, here is after. Now I need to return the sky to its original color. I’m going to use the mask based on yellow channel of CMYK color model. This is the result! Here is a photo without a mask, here is with one. Let's compare before and after images. Here is the reference for comparison.
You can leave it like this, but I would like to adjust the sky also. I’m going to disable the mask and save my edit to an external LUT. I’m disabling it for now. Now I’m going to clear the palette and add colors of sky both from my image and from the reference. Everything is ready to start! Let's see if I should adjust luminance here. It is getting worse, I will change it back. I'll reduce variability a little more and increase saturation.
It’s time to turn on the external LUT and switch it to Masked Alt mode. I’m going to combine sky and greenery edits with the mask based on yellow channel. I will also adjust the contrast of the sky. The sky looks too blue to me. Curves are responsible for this effect, so I will reduce their influence using this slider. Done!
