Hello! In this video, I will show you one of the ways to quickly increase contrast on skin.
I will increase contrast using Volume tool. It works like a channel mixer applied on an image in Luminosity mode. There is a separate video about Volume tool; I will leave a link to it in the comments. I’ll go to Volume tab and switch it to Shadows-Highlights mode. Two points have appeared instead of one. One point is responsible for the shadows, another controls the highlights.
Skin color is a warm shade. If I move the point that is responsible for the highlights up towards the red, the warm shades in the highlights will become even brighter. Here is how it works. If I move Shadows point down further from the red, the warm shades in the shadows will become darker. Let's compare before and after images. The contrast on the girl’s face has increased. I’ll load another photo. The skin in the highlights here can be made even brighter; I’ll leave the shadows as they are. Here is a photo before, here is after. The last photo looks slightly overexposed, so the highlights can be made even darker than they appear on the original image. I’m going to make the shadows even darker. Here's what happened. Here is a photo before and after using Volume tool in Shadows-Highlights mode.
