One of my favorite encounters, hope this video does it justice!
Acquisition is one of a few encounters in Destiny that can be a chore to get through with newer players but becomes another beast entirely when trying to speedrun it. At its core, Acquisition is about precise, long-range add clear, managing a high amount of communication between all 6 players, and reacting quickly to obelisk changes. While this might come as a surprise, this encounter tends to be the one that gains or loses the most time in a Vow speedrun because of how many segments are gated to different players.

Proud to say that I finally have a good raid time... really proud of every single member of this team as well as everyone that helped us along the way. Running a raid with an open playing field and no existing framework was certainly a challenge, but I can comfortably say we earned this time through hours and days of gruelling practice and testing. Given the recent Storm Grenade nerf, the one floor has become inconsistent enough that we no longer feel the raid is worth running. This raid is an incredible raid to speedrun, and the pain and inconsistency we (and many other teams) faced and eventually overcame only made the end result all the more rewarding. As Ritz would say... were finally free.
There are two timer pauses in this run following speedrun.com rules for the Vow of the Disciple raid. Both timer pauses were implemented in order to eliminate hardware advantages between competing teams. Between the Caretaker and Exhibition encounters, the timer pauses on the 1-3 skippers last input upon hitting the Exhibition load zone while the 5 other members of the fireteam rejoin, preventing any unfair disadvantages from slow load times (or in our case, an unavoidable error code).
Between the Exhibition and Rhulk encounters, the timer pauses as soon as the Apocalypse objective marker begins to form on a players screen, and resumes when the 3-4 skipper revives themselves to start the Rhulk encounter. This pause was recently introduced as a result of an ongoing reward processing bug, which prevents the Rhulk encounter from being started while the previous encounters rewards are being processed. The reason why the 3-4 skipper is allowed to move during the timer pause is because under normal circumstances, the 3-4 skipper would be going up to spawn Rhulks aura in by triggering his cocoon animation during the end of Exhibition — as a result of the processing bug, the cocoon does not spawn in until well after the Exhibition encounter has completed.
