YO!! Long time no see! Ive been super busy with my last semester of my undergraduate studies (and still am ahhh) but I was able to do this little sketch redesign as a break :)
I am still in the middle of working on an animatic - that has not been forgotten - as well as the Draka Imperium lore website, which will come out when its ready. Itll get done, I just cant say exactly when yet.
This is a completely new character for Draka Imperium that has not ever been spoken of before, although I have indeed repurposed an old, obsolete characters design for this character :) Youll definitely see more of her!

I maaaaay or may not have become increasingly entrenched in watching minecraft youtubers lol
Honestly most of it is thanks to all of the fantastic animatics which have been popping up on youtube - theyre so awesome and Id recommend checking them out!
Anyway, I really love Ranboos character, and the direction hes going in, despite him being relatively new to the story! I believe hes supposed to be part enderman, so I just took that to the extreme when designing his look.
I also wanted to do a design for Dream that wasnt just a human in a sweatshirt and a mask, so I made him an eldritch abomination instead!

The second of three fully rendered illustrations Im doing as a project for college! I wanted to showcase the grief of Grendels Mother over the loss of her son, as opposed to her brutality and viciousness that is far more often portrayed. She is the mother of a monster, and a monster herself, yet a mother nonetheless. Before Grendel is killed by Beowulf, Grendels Mother is not shown going on any kind of rampage; her grief and loss is what incites her to violence and a want of revenge. As for her appearance, shes described as being a wolfish swimmer, and a hag of the depths; instead of making her either a sexy fish lady or a standard sea monster, I took inspiration from a hippocampus and switched the horse part with a wolf, and colored her scales to appear slightly iridescent, yet desaturated with wear and age. The bright yellow-green of her bioluminescent eyes and lures tie her to my Grendel design, and, as youll see in the next speedpaint, my design for the Dragon at the end of the poem.
