Left side is my drawing space only, right side is the whole screen so you can see more of what i'm actually doing.

The reason my screen is sideways is because I use a Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet PC and turn the screen and lid sideways to draw on. In this configuration, my left hand can easily press Ctrl/shift/etc when I need to while I draw with my right. This is how i'm able to do the stripey feather patterns so quickly because I can press X (Keyboard shortcut in GIMP to switch the selected foreground and background colours of the brush) or hole Ctrl (Keyboard shortcut to cahnge the brush into colour-picker while Ctrl is pressed) and just draw seemlessly without having to move to the toolbox all the time.

I'm drawing on GIMP 2.6.10.

So, heres something nice and cute with some detail. As seen, a lot of the fine details come from when i'm colouring or shading to really define and sculpt the shape of the creature i'm drawing.

You can also see how many times I redraw not just the whole thing (Which I redrew twice before I moved onto the proper lineart), but I also can get stuck drawing the same small thing for a while too (Wings...=_=)

Also, when I'm blocking out the character, while it may seem like i'm just moving the mouse about doing nothing, what I'm actually doing is first ensuring the "threshold"'d image is a continuous outline, then i'm getting rid of any specs that appear around the edges of the lineart. Not the best way to block out a drawing but I just couldn't be bothered to contend with all the fur and feathers... Besides, this is called a Speed Draw, no? =p
