Since the start of the campaign a century ago, the western front has been, for us, quiet. Our Liir allies have skirmished back and forth with the enemy, but it seemed like something we could ignore for a time, as we executed our Space Schlieffen Plan.
Those conditions no longer obtain. Weve wrapped up the Morrigi as an imperial force, but the insurgent Zuul persist, and require multiple cruiser fleets to suppress their rabid assault.
While in the west, the Tarka and Hiver juggernaught has finally arrived on our doorstep. Alone, the Liir are faltering across the front, and worlds burn.
They need everything we can send, right now, or were both doomed. Liir in the immediate, and humanity to a slow, crushing death march from the west. Our fates are tied together.")

Whatever happens, we have to continue pressing forward with our plans for a Federation, while suppressing the more aggressive races and keeping an eye out for trouble. If we lose another fight, and another whole solar year of time, the results may be just as disastrous.
However, tanking their public order is going to lead to spiraling rates of piracy, which must be handled by combat.... or sacrificing allied flagships. Or both.
We also look deeper into the requirements to begin a Federation, and ponder our options...

Its tempting to think if we were just faster, if we acted more, we could save the Tarkas border colonies. Even with our fusion engines, though, well barely be in time to shield their homeworld. There are whispers of even more powerful drives, but those are decades off.
All we can do is everything we can, and leave the rest for future historians and youtube commenters.
