Howdy y’all, Lone Star Rider here! 🤠🏍️
Today I’m exploring the incredible Spearfish Falls, the largest waterfall along the Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota!
Located near the Savoy area, Spearfish Falls is tucked just off the main road, making it a hidden gem that’s absolutely worth the short walk. The trail begins on the north side of the historic Latchstring Inn Restaurant and winds down into the canyon, where you’ll be rewarded with the breathtaking sights and sounds of this roaring waterfall.
🥾 Trail Tip: Wear sturdy shoes! The path can be slippery, especially after rain or during wetter seasons.
Don’t feel like hiking? No problem! There’s also a scenic overlook deck on the south side of the Latchstring Inn, offering a fantastic view of the falls without making the trek.
📍 Spearfish Falls is located about 12.8 miles south of the north entrance to Spearfish Canyon, making it a perfect stop if you’re cruising the scenic byway during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally or exploring the Black Hills.
