With its propellant organic beat and light, galloping guitar strums, the kinetic ‘Gold In The Tide’ fits the theme of travel that so often underpins the work of Sparrows (aka Ryota Miyake, component of electro-meisters CRYSTAL).
Minor key guitar melodies summon the mystery of travel, unravelling like a path through a misty forest, whilst brass blares feel celebratory: driving a coastal highway as the sun gleams on the waves. A fitting fanfare for the FLAU family.
“It’s an old song,” says Sparrows. “About 10 years old. But after hearing her voice at RBMA, I decided Fazerdaze would be a best fit, so I asked her to write the lyrics and sing for me.”
The breathy, faraway croons of Faderdaze give this soundtrack a human side, bringing a forlorn but carefree atmosphere to the proceedings.

The Hokkaido-born musician Noah has changed her constantly seen her sound evolving since the release of her 2015 album Sivutie. While she described it as a sonic vision of a daydream scene,” 2019’s Thirty contained a mysterious, vapor-wave-like atmosphere that functioned as a gateway to Tokyo’s urban world. While also incorporating the delicious minimalism of 80s Hong Kong pop, Noah finally realized what she really wanted to express during the challenging first year of the pandemic.
Her rebellion against tradition/authority and her awareness of deep emotions like anger and sadness powered the creation of fascinating collection of songs. The EP featured a varied palette of sounds such as classical instruments like harp and strings, cut-up piano shreds, simple breakbeats, and four on the floor rhythms, creating an admirable balance of gothic and solemnity. Through her music, she was able to create a sightline into her unique worldview that is desolate yet, elegant. The poetry and choruses used in Noahs music open the door to other worlds, culminating in a sound that is both shimmering and elegant.

Motohiro Nakashima hails from Fukuyama, a city near Hiroshima.
Set on a bed of mesmerising guitar, ‘Reflection’ is a bright, evolving sound poem. Its flutes soar and flutter, press warmly through twinkling glockenspiel and guitar arpeggios, as the track bursts into a prog symphony of folk-meets-ambient proportions.
Gathering The Light is his most personal work to date.
Combining fingerstyle guitar and ambient instrumentation for emotive minimalist soundscapes, the album illustrates the universal search for light in the darkness, beauty in melancholy.
