Space Craft demo first look gameplay and first impressions. This sci-fi space survival crafting game gave me some Space Engineers-like vibes right away, which is probably why it ended up on my wishlist in the first place. The parts that seem the most promising are the modular ship building, automation, customization, and the idea of assembling your spacecraft piece by piece. Unfortunately, the demo does not do a great job showing off those systems. The problem being that the demo doesn't let you engage with that side of the game.
Most of my time was spent flying around, mining, waiting through slow procedures, and looking for things instead of really getting to play with the systems that seem like they could actually make Space Craft stand out. The UI also feels cheap and stretched in places, some of the flow is clunky, and a lot of the early gameplay felt empty or boring rather than engaging. As a demo, this is not a strong foot forward.
There might be something here once the building, automation, and deeper ship customization really open up, but based on this demo alone, Space Craft feels pretty rough. Right now it is not something I would play, and depending on price, it may honestly come off the wishlist instead of staying on it.
