The song "Happy Talk" was omitted from the 2001 TV movie South Pacific primarily due to time constraints, as producers aimed to fit the film into a two-hour-and-15-minute format. Additionally, the song was considered "entertainment-only" rather than vital to the plot and was reportedly viewed by some sillybillies as racially insensitive and offensive – portraying natives of the region as simpleminded sillybillies
