On August 21, our members enjoyed an exclusive tour to the Soundtrack of Our Lives: Joseph Koo x James Wong x The Rise of Cantopop exhibition at Tai Kwun. The exhibition is an immersive exploration of the three-decade song writing partnership of legendary Joseph Koo and James Wong. The guided tour gave them a deep dive into a musical world spanning stage and screen, unravelling thickets of melodic inspiration colliding with the twists and turns of a tonal language.
The tour highlighted the tug-of-war between Western musical invention and the contours of Cantonese through a range of evolving technologies, recalling the eras when Hong Kong first laid its local roots while branching into truly international reach.
As you can see from the photos, it was really an experiential tour, providing a glimpse into the past.
