Soulfly - First Commandment [Live feat. Chino Moreno of Deftones]
Recorded live at Dynamo Open Air Festival, Kunstijsbaan, Eindhoven, The Netherlands on May 30th 1998.

In 1998 Deftones played the famous Dynamo Open Air festival. 1998 had one of the best and most diverse line-ups in the history of the festival. Deftones played on the second day, right after Soulfly.

Soulfly, a band formed by Max Cavalera's formely of Sepultura, was on their first tour and named their band after the lyrics of the Deftones song 'Headup' (Soufly Fligh High!). Deftones and Max had been friends for a few years since Max' late stephson Dana Wells was a huge Deftones fan and introduced Max to the band. This song was dedicated to Dana who was killed in a car accident in 1996.

I was in the audience during this show and the atmosphere was just great. As you can see in this video, friends and family (along with Stef and Abe) were on the side of the stage watching the performance. I was happy to see Chino appear on this song live and Dutch National Television TMF recorded it. I added a better pro-audio source to the video.

Deftones' set at Dynamo after Soulfly was very powerful and aggressive and a little bit better than their show at Pinkpop, 2 days after this (also attended by me). It can be watched here:
