I was sitting in the waiting room of a dance school, in central Greece, back in 2012, listening to Robert Johnson, scrolling through old blues/folk albums on iTunes, when I first came across a collection of Blind Willie Johnson's music. I knew of 'Dark Was The Night, Cold Was The Ground', but nothing else, and since the whole collection was about 5$, I had to go for it. I must've sat and listened to the whole thing hundreds of times since then. From the songs, to his voice, to the guitar playing, to ...whoever is actually singing with him sometimes... he never ceases to blow me away. A force of nature. Undoubtedly my favourite blues/folk musician of that era, and a timeless inspiration. Can't go without saying I borrowed a lot of inspiration and style from Larkin Poe on this cover. Their sisterly flame brings the heart and soul out of music. All they touch, turns to gold.
