Every year people like to speculate about the origins of Halloween and trick-or-treating. It's a nebulous task, full of over stretched and imaginative dips into concepts like "Samhain"....a Celtic festival that was supposedly celebrated in ancient Ireland.

What does handing out tons of commercial candy to hordes of kids dressed like Disney's Marvel's the Avengers have to do with ancient cultures and religious customs? Probably nothing.

.....but one REAL old time custom from medieval Britain is similar: SOUL CAKES!

Here's our recipe for Soul Cakes.....little cookies that people used to give to beggars on All Hallow's Eve. They're delicious!
