Another week under the snow, which is actually not too bad, considering what is going on in the world right now. These days, I've been thinking a lot about an old biology lesson in junior high, which elaborated on how the human race's destiny lays in miscegenation, turning us all into Brazilians...
Clinching to our little ethno-culture may very well be our global demise. Back in the late 80ies, when we still defined ourselves around the one music style we were into, that was really a backward time, IMHO. We grew out of it, at least many of us, and for the better.
Once again, we'll try to prove during this stream that music is a universal language, and that it's more esoteric dialects are the icing, the salt, the heart, but that in the end, it's all only music.
We are all of the same race, and we all speak together, and we are so much closer than we sometimes realize, on this tiny tiny planet. The most effective place to travel to is your imagination, and thus, music is the best travel
My dear Indian, in this year
when we celebrate with some fanfare and unease
the fifth centenary of Christopher Columbus's perilous
first transatlantic voyage,
while remaining silent on earlier migrations
and discoveries
about which, in truth, we know very little,
why don't you show yourself to be more reasonable?

To admit that some of our pronouncements of old modernity
are in reality symptoms of guilt:
when, instead of seeking meaning, we say that there is none,
it is because we are terrified of the meaning that could be found.
So admit, my dear Indian, that with your bursts of vitality,
you complicate our lives terribly;
but I can already see all too well that I could rouse
all the conservatives and gatekeepers of art,
grumblers and sneers in our administrations and salons;
We are now only fighting a rearguard action;
you have come out of your shell,
and no one will ever be able to confine you there again.
