Pray the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Holy Rosary with us as part of the 54-Day Rosary Novena, offered especially for the Pope and bishops to formally promulgate the First Saturday Devotion, and for all the intentions of the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts.
In the Sorrowful Mysteries, we meditate upon the Passion and Death of Our Lord Jesus Christ and unite our prayers with the sufferings of His Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of His Blessed Mother.
The Sorrowful Mysteries
The First Sorrowful Mystery — The Agony in the Garden
We meditate upon Our Lord's agony in the Garden of Olives and His perfect resignation to the Father's will: “Not as I will, but as Thou wilt.”
The Second Sorrowful Mystery — The Scourging at the Pillar
We contemplate the cruel scourging endured by Our Lord during His Passion.
The Third Sorrowful Mystery — The Crowning with Thorns
We meditate upon Jesus being crowned with thorns and mocked as the King of the Jews.
The Fourth Sorrowful Mystery — The Carrying of the Cross
We accompany Our Lord as He carries the heavy Cross toward Calvary, suffering patiently under the blows of His executioners.
The Fifth Sorrowful Mystery — The Crucifixion and Death of Our Lord
We contemplate Christ nailed to the Cross, where He dies after three hours of indescribable agony and prays for the forgiveness of His enemies.
