Sony apparently found another way to make money from PlayStation gamers. Now Sony Interactive Entertainment is looking to expand its advertising business with brands outside of gaming — and gamers have every reason to question where this is going.
After the push toward digital games, rising prices, PlayStation Plus, live-service monetization and everything else gamers already pay for, does PlayStation really need another revenue stream aimed at its own customers?
Sony has NOT officially announced commercial breaks inside PS5 games, but the company is hiring to grow PlayStation's advertising business, including new brand partnerships and data-driven advertising opportunities.
