Sony RX10V Camera Review
The RX10V is the first RX10 model in 9 years.

Prior to the announcment of the RX10V, 'second-hand' or 'used' RX10IV cameras have been selling for US $1,000 more than the original purchase price. Why were these cameras so desirable, and what does the new RX10V bring to the table? Does the Type-1 sensor, when matched with a 25x Zoom lens, still offer a camera-package worth purchasing in 2026? This RX10V camera review addresses all of these points and also looks at some alternative options for photographers wanting a portable travel camera with a long telephoto reach.

Many of the examples in this gallery were captured in the rainforests of far north Queensland, where the ambient light is not bright. Low-light performance is one of the perceived weaknesses of a camera with a smaller sensor, so I have had to lean on the performance of the SteadyShot so that I can use shutter speeds slower than I would normally use (in order to keep the ISO low). I have also used noise-reduction in post-production editing software (Topaz Photo) when needed.
The small size of a Type-1 sensor may not be attractive proposition to some photographers looking for a fixed-lens camera, or for a photographer wanting to achieve the reach of a long-telephoto zoom lens. I recommend you look at the examples I have posted to my RX10V gallery (all captured in the JPEG file format) before you make up your mind about the relative merits of owning this type of fixed-lens camera.
