The internal microphone in my Sony HDR-HC7 had a weird problem. I bought another one which promptly died on me as soon as I tried it. But luckily I was able to fix the first one by taking apart both camcorders and swapping the audio board and microphones. Now I had a fully functional HDR-HC7 and a bunch of spare parts.

Note: The HDR-HC9 is nearly identical, and the HDR-HC5 is very similar as well, so this video will pertain to those models as well.
