The @SonyAlpha A7R6 7R VI and the 100-400mm G Master II is my favorite lightweight set up for bird photography.
The Alpha 7R VI has the best autofocus I’ve seen in a mirrorless camera yet. Then the viewfinder, which is glorious. I can see the detail while it’s happening. And with pre-capture on, the camera records a full second before I ever press a button. Add thirty frames a second, and you can cherry pick the single frame that’s absolutely perfect, the one that connects. And with a sensor this good, you don’t always have to fill the frame. I can take a piece of that file and still tell an amazing story.
The 100-400 G Master ll is light enough that I can hold a bird through a long approach without my arm shaking. Constant f4.5, tack sharp with beautiful bokeh too!
