I have been going around looking at PBR battles lately, and I have noticed alot of players NOT equiping protect to alot(if not all) of their pokemon when they are going into double battles. In my opinion, protect is a MUST move to use if you are going into double battles. From my experiences, it has helped me out in so many battles to name
Doubles are NOT like single battles, strategy and prediction are at higher stakes here. If you don't have protect, you are more prone to fake out, gang-on attacks and worstly: EXPLOSION. If you don't have protect, the users of self-destruct/explosion can take out your pokemon without any worries. The same can go for players who gang-on a certain pokemon.
If the victim of a gang-on attack used protect, that means the opponents will not do anything for a turn and your team-mate can use a free move.
Here is an example battle situation where protect is useful: Charizard and Rhyperior (assuming he does not carry lightningrod) VS Jolteon and Scizor
If Charizard used Protect, Jolteon would not be able to use thunderbolt on him, whist Rhyperior uses Earthquake to knock Jolteon out. With Charizard still standing, you can take out scizor easily and win the battle
If Charizard didnt have protect, Jolteon would finish charizard off and although Rhyperior would knock out Jolteon, Rhyperior would have to face scizor on his own, which makes for a somewhat harder fight considering scizor has Bullet Punch/Iron Head
This is an example on how the usage of Protect can turn a battle around. I would actually do a video of that situation, but I can't since I can't play PBR due to me being on vacation
