Not bad (b'w')b some mistakes (especially at the start :c) but overall I'm happy with this. Eventually I'll come back to improve this. More info below.
Sorry for the audio desync. There was already an audio desync, so I manually fixed it. But it seems after rendering it got desynced again.
Splits - splits.io/3vq
Basic info :
M/D-speed - If you hold the control stick slightly forward (relative to the direction you want to go), then gain some speed and jump, Sonic will keep gaining speed until he hits the speedcap. The speedcap is different depending on what type of area you're in (3D, Restricted 3D or 2D).
QSS - Quickstep Slide is exactly what it says on the box. You repeatedly do quicksteps while holding down the slide button. This makes you keep gaining speed until you hit a speedcap, though this speedcap is lower than the speedcap for M-speed.
BJG (Break Jump Glitch) - Holding M-speed while you're transitioning into a 2D area will result in a massive speed increase. If not cancelled, this could make you fly way out of the stage or even crash your console. I used this trick in Cool Edge 1 and 2.
Stage specific info :
Rooftop Run 1 - The first thing you have to do is get full 3D. To do this, I launch myself backwards into the air and then boost over the trigger that would put me into Restricted 3D. After that, I need to hit a very specific spot on the ground to launch me up into the air. This is really inconsistent and it's the reason I start the run with this stage. After you get launched, simply hold M-speed to fly to a later part of the stage.
Rooftop Run 2 - This stage is meant to have 3 laps. However you can homing attack the balloon behind you to hit the lap trigger again and again. Sometimes the balloon and spring despawn when trying to go backwards. As far as I know there's nothing you can do about that, and I got a bit unlucky in this run.
Cool Edge 2 - Doing a BJG backwards usually sends you to the end of the first lap. But in this run I hit the lap trigger on the way back, so I got to the end of the 2nd lap, leaving me with just 1 lap to clear afterward.
If you have questions about a specific stage, just comment and I'll do my best to answer.
Technical info - This was done on a PS3, played on the digital version (which includes the 1.02 patch). The game is stored on an SSD to speed up loads. Despite this, 360 version is still faster. After every stage, the game has to save. On 360, this happens instantly, but on PS3 it takes a couple of seconds.
ESA specific info - If this run gets into the marathon, I would do the stages in a different order, that's closer to the intended order. That way, I would have more time at the start to explain the tech at the start, rather than kicking off with a lot of insane tricks.
