An unexpected event; WildBrain has recently released a distribution package labeled "WildBrain Upconverted Classics", samples of which are available on their distribution website. The package's contents include the original Inspector Gadget series and the Mario and Sonic cartoons, including the Sonic Christmas Blast special. It's unknown when the restorations were finished, but an estimate is sometime between December 2025 and March 2026, as MeTV Toons currently airs the Gadget restorations and has aired the Christmas Blast restoration as part of the 2025 edition of Tis the Season for Toons.
Likely due to the complexity of restoring DiC shows (hundreds of film prints to be restored and reassembled, alongside their speculated poor preservation), WildBrain took the easy route of simply upscaling the shows with the use of A.I. (with the odd exception of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, which was simply resized to 1080p restoration without any modifications to its picture quality). Even strangely, The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 and Sonic Underground were cropped (or stretched depending on the scene to prevent details from being cropped out) to the 16:9 aspect ratio, whereas the rest are kept in their 4:3 ratio.
