In November 2019, the prototype that was shown in this video was released to the public by Hidden Palace and is known as the August 21st 1992 build or a more complete version of the Simon Wai prototype.
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION:
So I stumbled across this little proto video of Sonic 2 which seems very rare as I only found it on the "Secrets of Sonic Team" website. I assume this could be the prototype "beta 3" between the Simon Wai and Beta 4 prototypes as the video shows Hidden Palace Zone but Sonic has his final spritesheet. The HPZ data was actually deleted in Beta 4 too.
So why did I upload this? Other than to give you what could be the lost beta 3 of Sonic 2, one of the levels shown in this video I am currently in the process of porting to the Sonic Genz Engine. Comment which one you think it is!

In part 6 of the series, Sonic misses the special stage for the first (SPOILER: and only) time and then faces the most annoying boss in the game. (Love the Sonic Rush music though) Next, Tails ends up in a tropical paradise hidden at the bottom of the Death Egg launch tower. Before I forget, this zone introduces us to what we all have feared in a Sonic game: DROWNING.
