Here you can download the alpha version of my hack.
I hope it doesn't disappoint you too much, since this is a 2016 prototype, and many of the things I planned were not implemented.
In the archive you can find 2 versions of the hack. Fixed and Not Fixed version. In the updated version of the hack, serious bugs were fixed and boss attacks were changed. The bosses were too difficult to pass. So I eased the complexity and added more information about upcoming attacks.
You probably want to ask why this hack contains bosses from the Sonic 3 & Knuckles Hard Bosses Edition 2. I have no problem answering this question.
This hack is the Sonic 3 & Knuckles Hard Bosses Edition 2, but with a different name and a different concept. I used the source code of Sonic 3 & Knuckles Hard Bosses Edition 2 to create this hack.
There are no more bosses from the Sonic 3 & Knuckles here, so I couldn't use the old hack name anymore. Of course, I could use the name Sonic: Hard Bosses Edition, but the concept of the hack is completely different, and I basically couldn't continue using the old name.
So I decided to rename my hack.
The Sonic: the Boss Challenge is a "Boss Rush" hack. The player will have to defeat all the bosses in a row, without rest. In the hack, you can choose the music before the battle. I added two the sound drivers so that the player could choose more different music, and also because I was interested in this driver and wanted to learn it.
In the GEMS sound driver, I ported some sound effects from the SMPS sound driver. I planned to port all the sound effects, but in the end, work on the hack was canceled.
The SMPS sound driver has options for editing music. I wanted every player to be able to make their own music remix and play against my bosses.
In this video, you will notice some bugs in the bosses that I have already fixed, but I did not record the video again. This hack is difficult even for me.
