Many years ago, I did this boss on a whim so I'd have a single IL record in this game. The time then was a 23"83. That time got beaten by a 23"73, that used the 'restart death' trick, a strat where you restart the frame before you would otherwise die, in order to die a second time during the boss load in sequence. It lowers the IGT by roughly 2.5 seconds despite not actually doing it faster at all, and is the epitome of dishonesty. We'd all be better off if it was just banned, or all agreed to not do it.
Anyhow, so my partner has been playing through this game trying to get all the A Ranks. One time with the game booted up she fell asleep, so I decided to play this boss for a bit and see if I couldn't get the record back here using honest strats. Well, I got a low 23 pretty quickly, but I kept trying to push it a bit lower until this happened.
I'll be honest, I didn't know the instant fire on the final phase was even possible with Team Chaotix until it happened here. But I guess it does make sense, I've gotten it with other teams and it should work the same way in theory. But yeah, huge surprise and big improvement!

Alright, another improvement, pretty decent time here! Still a few errors and bad spots, but got some very good luck in some spots, the hunts overall were really good, and some Pokemon had some excellent stats too.
Baton Pass is a speedrun category where you use a different Pokemon for every major fight, which in this game is every Gym Leader and E4 member.
