S-ranking this is pretty tricky. You can only get hit a few times if you want to get an S-rank. I got hit 2 times here. I've managed to get through that boss without getting hit only once. I recommend you don't get hit until the 6th or 7th hit. Those clocks can be a pain to dodge, but even worse is the part where Time Eater shoots 3 green lasers at you at once.
While getting hit as classic Sonic doesn't seem to do anything, it makes the Time Eater launch more attacks at you which makes you lose time. It's a pretty easy boss to S-rank if you know how to do it, though it still requires good reflexes.
