Sonic CD's audio soundtrack really was an innovative product of it's time, the music and sound defined the 1990's dance floor scene down to a T! It's a magical mix of house/techno and old school beats all blended together where the momentum of time fuels the sound of the music. Each piece of music can be heard four different ways depending on where Sonic The Hedgehog travels to giving the player a thrilling audio experience along a magical journey to free little planet from the diabolical Dr. Robotnik.
I strongly believe that Sonic CD's Jap/PAL soundtrack is the very best on the Mega-CD hardware, it helped push the hardware in the way it was supposed to play games on that system. Like for example each Past track comes from the PCM Ricoh RF5C164 sound chip purposely coded to make the music sound inferior to the present and future tracks and it's done this way to demonstrate that Sonic travelling to the past means inferior technology is to be used. One could also argue that it was to save some space on the actual CD-ROM game disc itself.
Lastly although I have uploaded this soundtrack before on a DVD video upload I wanted to upload it again onto a single CD-R audio disc only with no ISO/bin file as track 1, and without those 12 minutes of data as track 1, I just managed to fit every single track onto this audio only CD, I even managed to include a few bonus tracks that were not originally included on the game disc. I mixed this one a bit differently to my old DVD one. Past tracks are now in DA redbook audio just like the official redbook audio tracks and I deliberately made the Past tracks quieter than the DA redbook tracks to help imply that the Past tracks are inferior sounding as they come from the past, as in the present and future the loudness wars now dominate every physical remastered audio vinyl and CD releases of popular music these days and it's a well known fact that DA redbook recorded audio is superior to any music made through a soundchip (although this doesn't necessarily mean it sounds better as it all really comes down to personal taste in the end.

Recorded all Past tracks from an actual pal SEGA Mega-CD II attachment by going through the game's hidden sound test by entering a cheat. All the other digital audio redbook tracks were recorded straight from the game disc itself. So no quality is lost or dropped.
