My phone ran out of space and the video ended prematurely. I was just going to say that with Gimbal lock, your Z rotation only effects facing angle, but you need a perfect 90 degree X rotation. Even if you're slightly outside of perfect 90 in Xrot, you will still have a circular cross section (a very small one), and the Z rotation will make slight changes to the pull of gravity.
