Sonic 2 Alternate is a hypothetical soundtrack for if I made Sonic 2's music. I love Leila Wilson's fanmade one, so I wanted to do one as well.
This iteration is vastly different from the original sky chase. This rendition is intended to feel a lot more tense. I never did understand why sky chase felt so happy, anyways. I can understand the whole "floating above clouds" aspect, but you are chasing the Wing Fortress, an armed airship launching the one and only man with the IQ that can currently control, power, and steer the Death Egg, a mass superweapon in outer space.
so yeah. not the time to be happy.
This track was slightly inspired by Hi's fanmade version of Thunder Turbine ( youtube.com/watch?v=PK8pGvZVxCw ). It's not where I got the idea for 5/4, but it was a coincidence.
