The amazingly beautiful Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire not far from Waddesdon made a "young" Barry Manilow tremble and bow in awe and excitement when he was asked to perform there at the age of 40. The stunningly gorgeous castlelike mansion that is also known as the birthplace of Churchill gave the perfect stage for the Brooklyn boy's most memorable concert from 1983 in front of a crowd of over 40,000 psyched up "Fanilows". During his performance he was so visibly overwhelmed that you could see his eyes tearing throughout many of the songs or when he made his remarks about the magnificence of this unique venue. I remember this from my old VHS copy of the event that contains lots of backstage footage too. While musically not among his best (he started some songs singing out of tune) the atmosphere is so sizzling that in retrospect he calls it THE concert and has the fondest memories.
The breathtaking photos of possibly the world's most elegant country manor were once again carefully shot and handpicked by "eagle eye" Ray Woods who made a rare cameo appearance in this clip to which I have added the famous C-minor violin piece Song From A Secret Garden turning it into an all-piano song. Performed in a style that is switching from soothing to dramatic and back to soothing ending with my own two cents of a hopeful glimpse into the future with a promising C-major chord, I additionally underscored the beauty of this Swedish composition with some simple string pads and a smooth rhythm to spice it up.
The displayed keys for piano players were meant to be in standard notation, however, I overlooked an isolated solfeggio key "RE7(Gb)" that should have been "D7/Gb". When it comes to writing down chord progressions I personally prefer the traditional romance* naming but for the target group of these vids I tend to use American or the barely differring German nomenclature.
