On February 7, 2017, forty-nine Republican senators voted to silence Senator Elizabeth Warren to stop her reading of a letter about a racist Trump cabinet nominee. Turtle-man Mitch McConnell explained the reason she was silenced with words that have become a rallying cry for all women:
"She was warned.
She was given an explanation.
Nevertheless, she persisted."
