An instrumental cover of Somnus with Ukrainian string quintet Oleh MStudio! This cover was a dream come true to make - a fantasy becoming reality, you could say.
Funnily enough, I was not moved by Somnus when I first heard it at the FFXV Abbey Road concert. Over the course of the game, it grew on me tremendously - it permeates all of the emotions and tragedy of Final Fantasy XV. What's more, I was incredibly blessed to be able to travel to Tokyo to see the real-life location in June, and now I'm doubly sentimental for the song - attaching it both to my feelings for the game and nostalgia for my amazing trip to Tokyo.
I commissioned this piece in late 2023 - before I had seen Tokyo, in fact - and played the piano to the brilliant string quintet performance. Oleh and his team did a brilliant job and you can find a link to their Fiverr page below if you'd like to commission them yourself.
