It was a dark September night. I was all alone in the middle of the Mojave Desert, on my first ever stargazing trip. When I finally saw the Milky Way with my own eyes for the first time, I was filled with awe and wonder. But it also made me feel just how small and insignificant I truly am in this marvelous, ever-expanding universe.

But I also felt, deep in my heart, that the insignificance of it all is what makes our time on this Earth such a miracle. That I got to be born on this planet, in the tiny window of time where I could live, make friends, see the stars, pursue my ideals, fall in love with the girl of my dreams...

And I realized then just how much I missed my lover. I was traveling a lot for work at the time, and couldn't spend much time with her. I was only several hundred miles away, but seeing the Milky Way made me feel like she was on the other side of the universe... ♡
