I went home to Mount Gilead because sometimes God calls you forward by calling you back. 🙏🏾
Mount Gilead is sacred ground for my family. It is where generations before me worshiped, prayed, buried their loved ones, raised their children, and trusted God through circumstances designed to break them.
So our Jubilee Celebration was bigger than a homecoming. It was a declaration: what our ancestors prayed over, we are responsible for stewarding.
I came home to honor the elders who kept the doors open.
I came home to remember the ancestors whose faith made our lives possible.
I came home because this ground still has an assignment.
And now we are dreaming about what comes next.
Mount Gilead Retreat Village is our vision to transform this historic sacred space into a place of rest, restoration, remembrance, and renewal—preserving the historic church and African American heritage while creating spaces for pastors, married couples, families, young people, and future generations to retreat, heal, learn, reconnect, and encounter God.
We envision trails that tell our story.
Spaces where weary pastors can breathe again.
Retreats where marriages can be strengthened.
Rites of passage where our children learn who they are and whose they are.
And a sacred village where we can go back, tell the truth, heal forward, and WALK GOOD.
This is Jubilee.
We’re not simply returning to the land.
We’re returning to the assignment.
