Starriex leaned against the cold stone ledge, watching the sun dip below the horizon. Sunset was always her favorite time of day. It reminded her of days past, of her last adventure with her two siblings. The same sun’s rays that warmed the ground on that last adventure cast long shadows on the floor of her hallway. Combating the pillars for space on the smooth stone floor. Starriex got up from where she watched the sun to pace, waiting for Ash to finally get here. Ash knew Starry would be waiting in this hall. Starriex had built it after all, a hallway of memories. On each stone pillar was a heart shaped stone representing all of her companions and friends she had made on her adventures. It was silly, Starriex knew, to try and ‘set in stone’ the memories of the past. Making such a deal of trying to remember. She shifted her gaze back to the window to watch the last ray sink into the hills, counting the last hour of the day. “And last hour of my life” She thought. Because that was the whole reason she was here, to fight Ash. A friend she had known all her life, and in a way had become her sibling. “Try to forget about that.” She thought as she slowly walked over to Phydren’s column and picked up his scarf that she had placed under it hours before. It was the only thing she had left of him after Ash killed him. Starriex wrapped it around her neck and walked back to the center of the hallway. She could hear Ash’s footsteps, sounding like a timer as they walked up the stone stairs leading to the hall on the hilltop. Starriex glanced around the room, thinking of any other way to end this. It wasn’t Ash’s fault, the Keeper corrupted them. She could feel Cinders protesting, deep in her soul. “There’s no other way Cinders. If I fight Ash the Keeper will let them go. They need to pay, HE needs to pay...”
