After seeing the ending I went looking for levels I hadn't unlocked yet. It appeared there was another one that unlocked after As Large As Possible (Sea). I revisited the stage, and got reacquainted with the little octopus.
I guessed that catching the octopus would help unlock a level, so I started over and started recording (lol).
To catch the octopus I used an easy, cheap method (lol) ... I brought a time-stopping power-up into the level with me. You could probably also catch it by dashing at it. Or, there is a clock power-up on the ship, up the stairs on the opposite side from where the level started.
And my guess is that catching the octopus and then completing the different version of the level is probably what unlocked a stage. If you caught the octopus the first time, I'm gonna guess you'd then need to complete this level without catching the octopus to unlock a different level.
