Someone asked me recently what to do if they can't afford to stop performing. The honest answer was harder than they probably expected.

If you have lost touch with yourself inside the performance, you are accelerating burnout. The career you think you're protecting is the one most at risk. Burnout doesn't announce itself politely. It shows up as missed details, fraying relationships, work that used to be sharp going dull.

Performance has serious downsides. It can end your career. The damage spreads to your personal life too. The way back is slow. It looks like coaching, therapy, and the quiet work of getting grounded in who you actually are. Then showing up as yourself, competent and thoughtful and caring, instead of as the version you have been performing.

I write more honestly about all of this in my newsletter every week. Comment NEWSLETTER and I'll send you the link.
