Someone asked me if their anxiety is just who they are. The short answer is "No."
I am not a therapist, and if you are dealing with trauma, that work belongs with one. But a lot of anxiety is self-inflicted, the byproduct of constant comparison to people you barely know, at work and in your personal life. We rarely spend enough time alone with ourselves to come back to a baseline.
Meditation, affirmations, the quiet conversations you have with yourself before the noise starts. Those practices look like wellness clichés from outside. They are how you stay in touch with the version of you that exists underneath the comparison.
Constant anxiety is learned behavior. Which means you can teach yourself out of it.
