Most of us are afraid of dying. But some things are worse.
The United States now has the largest gap in the world between how long people live and how long they live in good health. About twelve years.
And here’s the strange part. We already know how to prevent most of what closes that gap. We’ve known for decades. The American Heart Association wrote it down in seven lines in 2010. Nothing exotic. And almost nobody does it.
So why not?
I think we’ve spent forty years treating a behavior problem as an information problem.
